Rotary thanks everyone who came out to enjoy our second annual community Oktoberfest event yesterday, starting with our beer tent, food and family-friendly hike in the afternoon, followed by music with the band Road Rash at Rotary Hall in the evening, along with food and drink, beer stein hold contests, and the 50/50 draw later that night!  More photos from yesterday’s Oktoberfest fun-filled event can be found on our website at:

The winners of the Beer Stein Hold Contests were Rotarian Sue Kolundzic for the Ladies’ Competition (with a time of 2 minutes and 47 seconds), and Peter Hormann for the Men’s Competition (with a time of six minutes and four seconds) – Congratulations Sue and Peter!  The winner of the Rotary 50/50 Draw was Ruthann Decker of Stokes Bay (receiving $1,500) – Congratulations Ruthann!

Rotary thanks Bill Floyd of Bruce Trail Association for leading an Oktoberfest family-friendly afternoon hike to Lion’s Head Village Side Trail, Williams’ Cave Side Trail, and Bannister Hill Loop Side Trail – it was a great hike experience!  Rotary also thanks Master Brewer Christian Klaus Reimerschmid von der Heide of Tagwerk Bier, Friends of Rotary and other volunteers who helped out during the event, making our second annual Oktoberfest a huge success!  Rotary is especially thankful to the sponsors of this year’s Oktoberfest event, including Hellyer’s Foodland and ACN Electric, Craig McDonald Ridden Insurance Brokers (Chatsworth), and Cardinal B&B Retreat.

Over 30 participants came out for a fun, spirited Trivia Night at Rotary Hall on Friday, September 20th, hosted by Caeli Mazara and Eric Perez.  A total of seven teams competed for top place with rounds for general trivia (both open-ended and multiple choice questions), music (with songs and singers from the 50s to present day), and a picture round, with the highest-scoring winning team at the end of the evening being the Couch Bleepers!

Our next Trivia Night at Rotary Hall with Caeli and Eric will be held on Friday, October 25th, and will be a Halloween-themed trivia event, with a prize being awarded for the best costume of the evening!  Hope you can join us then!
Rotary exchange student Matthew has now arrived from Taiwan to begin a year of study and experience in Canada, hosted by families here in Northern Bruce Peninsula and attending Bruce Peninsula District School!  Upon arrival at Toronto Pearson Airport, Matthew was met by Rotarian/Past-Club President Cathryn Buckley.  Welcome to Canada, Matthew!

More photos of Matthew’s arrival and introduction to Northern Bruce Peninsula will be posted in a photo album on our Club website:
Congratulations to Rotarian Wendel Thomson who successfully completed his second annual walk to fundraise for local health care on Tuesday, September 10th!  Wendell walked over 60 kilometers from Pike Bay to Sauble Beach and back, over 14 hours across a two-day period, and has raised over $32,000 to this point for Brightshores – Lion’s Head Hospital! Photos of ‘Wendell’s Walk for Health Care’ can be found at https://www.rotarynbp.org/photoalbums/wendell-s-walk-2024

Donations to ‘Wendell’s Walk for Health Care’ will continue to be accepted until the end of 2024, and can be made on-line (www.bphfoundation.com), via e-transfer (to admin@bphfoundation.com), by telephone – (519) 534-5856 – or by regular mail (to Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation, 369 Mary Street, Wiarton, Ontario, N0H 2T0).  Please include your full mailing address with your donation to receive a charitable donation receipt.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Honorary Rotarian and dear friend David Hosken.  David was a long-time member of our Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient, had served as Chair of our Club’s Finance Committee for many years and oversaw special projects such as ‘Movie Nights at Rotary Hall’.  He was a tireless worker at Rotary bars, community Pancake Breakfasts and other Rotary events and activities, and was also very active in his Church and the community of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our fourth and final community Pancake Breakfast of the 2024 season held on Sunday, September 1st! We served over 200 breakfasts this morning! Photos from this Pancake Breakfast event can be found at:

Rotary thanks ‘Friends of Rotary’ who helped out with our Pancake Breakfast events this season, from grilling food on our BBQs, to helping out on the serving line to serve breakfasts, to washing up during and after the breakfast event. We also thank our generous individual and business sponsors who provide product or financial support to help defray the costs of putting on our Pancake Breakfasts, allowing Rotary to return more money from our fundraisers directly back to the community.
Rotary Thanks Our Generous Website Sponsors!
